'The Grand Budapest Hotel' Trailer: Just a Man and His Lobby Boy

Oh, how Wes Anderson does thrill and bewilder at the very same time.

On the one hand, the ultra wry, witty and more importantly original writing-directing style of the "Moonrise Kingdom" and "The Royal Tenenbaums" mastermind is like a homing device for Hollywood's top tier talent (this time, including Ralph FiennesBill MurrayEdward NortonSaoirse RonanTilda SwintonWillem Dafoe and Jason Schwartzman, among many others). But on the other, let's be honest. You've gotta be pretty with it to make heads or tails of what's happening half the time lest you miss out on some super hip joke or innuendo.

Not to worry, though. With "The Grand Budapest Hotel," the first trailer for which has been revealed today, things seem fairly straightforward.

As the teaser shows, the movie's all about this oh-so-esteemed hotel concierge working in the roaring '20s who takes a young lobby boy under his belt — figuratively, thank goodness, and not literally — to become his new protégé-slash-confidant-slash-partner-in-crime.

Things get sticky when an rich elderly lady guest he once bedded goes cold and leaves a priceless (except that everything has a price, of course) Renaissance painting called "Boy with Apple" to him in her will, much to the chagrin of her family and friends. Naturally, the artwork won't be delivered cleanly and easily to its named recipient, so hysterical police chase scenes and such do ensue. And if we know anything about Mr. Anderson, they'll ensue with impeccable style.

"The Grand Budapest Hotel," filmed in Germany earlier this year, will hit theaters on March 7, 2014.
